GIMME THE NEWS I GOT A
BAD CASE
OF LOVIN YOOUUUUUU
People have expressed an interest in knowing more about The Doctor. This doesn't really explain him, but I guess it gives a pretty good feeling about him. If you want to ask me about him, you should!
1) What's your character's name?Doctor Wires, but please, call him The Doctor. He always introduces himself that way, unless you've distracted him with something else. But even then, it's kind of automatic.
2) How old is he/she?As old as existence. He's been alive, at least, for as long as God needed some kind of underworld -- The Doctor is the caretaker of The Hospital, which is basically Hell.
3) Is your OC a boy or girl?Male.
4) What's his/her race?Technically, he's some sort of angel, but his heritage is Virus. lol if you're reading this, you've heard me spaz about what that means already lolllll. Basically, back when The Doctor was a Virus, existence ended, and God wanted to make it all over again, so he took everything in existence and gave it a new job. I call it Reassignment because I'm enough of a loser to name something like that. So anyway, The Doctor was Reassigned to his post in The Hospital back when all existence was created again. (In the original canon, he doesn't remember this until The Hospital dies. In writing with Missi, he's already remembered that he's a Virus. In "An Angular Discipline", it gets muddy because he remembers all possible outcomes of his past lives. lol)
APPEARANCE1) If this character were to suddenly become part of the real world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get?..............a lot. This is an eight foot tall man with skin the color of chalk, eyes with no pupils or irises, and a mouth full of doggish teeth who looks like he hasn't eaten or slept hardly at all in months if not years.
2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world? His world consists of The Hospital (a building who can talk, but only to him, although she's dying and stopped talking to him) and Elliot (his Assistant who knows him better than just about anyone and loves him, in some kind of nonromantic, superplatonic way that still allows them to fuck like bunnies at times). The Hospital doesn't think he's weird (when she does think), and Elliot knows he's off his rocker. So I guess The Doctor's got a 50-50 "normal" vote going for him.
3) What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)?Everything's pretty recognizable about him. Maybe his hands, though -- they're very long and graceful -- and his mouth. He has a nice voice, but that's his leftover Virus vocal chords working for him. (They can mimic any other voice. Basically, The Doctor's voice isn't even his own -- he just picked up bits and pieces of other voices and put them together in a way he liked, then continued to speak with a second and sometimes third voice underneath everything to create a weird kind of harmony when he speaks. When he gets turned Human in one of the writings I did with Missi, it freaked him out not to hear that anymore.)
Also, his blank eyes. They bother some people, because you can't make eye contact with him.
The last thing isn't particularly recognizable, but...it's important. You'd only notice it if you'd spent a lot of time with him, like Elliot. He spends so much time smiling that his mouth has become kind of...fixed. To compensate, his eyebrows are really expressive. (This isn't really true anymore, but it was. His eyebrows are still expressive, but he doesn't smile all of the time anymore.)
4) Would you consider your OC as attractive?Maybe. He is not an attractive person, but he carries himself as though he is, which is more important than you might think.
PERSONALITY1) Temper?None, really. He's been alive too long to be angry. He got angry with Elliot during some of the writing with Missi, but that was just him covering up his butthurt at being caught lying.
2) Does your character ever get depressed?Yes, if you remind him The Hospital is dying, or if you remind him anything about how hopeless his thing with ~
Cyanide-dreams's Wilsbach is.
3) Leader or Follower?Leader, I guess. He doesn't like being out of control of a situation; it's the Virus in him that makes him need to have control over every part of something.
4) What is the main aspect(s) of his/her personality? He's crazy. He's been in the same building for the past several billions of years, so I don't really blame him.
He's also gentle, and it surprises people, because he's also really a monstrous thing.
He cares for things very much, although he hurts things he loves very easily because he's too unstable to realize he's doing it.
HISTORY1) Did your OC have a family of any sort? If so, are they still alive? No family. His past Assistants before Elliot have wandered off. The Hospital -- he calls her his true love, because she is -- is dying. Elliot is just fine, although he's pretty sure he's going nuts.
2) Is your character out on his/her own? If so, why?Lives with Elliot. Doesn't have parents, so... XD;
3) Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events? In the original canon, the most traumatizing stuff was stuff he did to himself. To overcome his massive ennui, he started doing stuff like breaking his arms for fun. Also, The Hospital dies at some point.
In Boxist canon (so, for "An Angular Discipline"), having to live with knowing all the possible outcomes of every action he'd ever done or could have possibly done is pretty bad, I think. As a result, he sort of simultaneously experiences all the wrong choices, all the consequences, and a sort of regret, because he also knows how he could have done it right, because in some universe, he did. And he remembers it.
4) What was probably the best time in his/her life so far?In the original canon, the first moment he came into The Hospital was the best moment of his life. He doesn't really realize it, but it's been downhill from there ever since.
In Boxist canon, some of the stuff he did with Wilsbach is pretty high up there. (Unfortunately, he also remembers NOT being able to do them, so it's kind of a weird tradeoff.)
ROMANCE
1) Single?...not really? I dunno.
2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships? His love for The Hospital is romantic, in a weird way. His love for Elliot is not, but you might guess it was if you were around them. I made them up expecting them to fall in love, but they never did.
3) Virgin?LOL. Although, technically, I think you could have called him a virgin until he slept with whichever Assistant he slept with first, since raping living corpses forced to live in Hell strikes me more as masturbation than sex.
4) Does your character like flirting? In a weird way, yes, but it's just his personality. He will sometimes resort to it when he doesn't know how to be serious.
SYMBOLISM
1) What animal would you associate your OC with?An emaciated doberman. Seriously.
2) Musical Instrument?Piano. He plays it, and after billions of years of practice, he's quite good. (I think he learned to play by copying a player piano, so his form is kind of terrible. But he does it his own way and sounds good doing it.) He also likes to sing, and since he can perfectly mimic any voice, I guess he's sort of cheating with that one.
3) Element?...idk lol
4) Planet?........................i still dk lol
SHOWING THE LOVE
1) Do you draw your character?Alllllllllllllllllllllll the time. The Doctor is kind of my auto-draw character.
2) Do you write about him/her?I do. I especially enjoy writing him talking with Elliot. I started his canon story and then realized that it was too wandering to be anything good, so I dropped it. I wrote him into "An Angular Discipline", and it came out very well.
3) Do you use him/her in any rpgs? With Missi, yes. A lot. Because The Hospital is an easy place to dump characters.
4) What other ways have you appreciated your OC?i still dk what this question is really asking, lol. Uhhh. I sometimes mimic his voice, I guess, for fun.
RANDOMIZE!
1) Is your character wanted for anything? No, considering there is no law system for Hell, lol. :T
2) What are three weaknesses in him/her?a) HE'S FUCKING CRAZY.
b) Being a Virus is a weakness for him in a way, because he has all these instincts in him, but they get tangled up in his actual emotions, and it gets confusing. ...I'd explain better, but it's like...stupidly complicated. :T
c) The Hospital, Elliot, and Wilsbach. Those are the big three for The Doctor -- hurt one of those and you've hurt him. Not that he doesn't care about anyone else, but...well, I guess he doesn't really. He does care about Chester, but not in the same way. He will defend Chester, but partially that's because Elliot would never let him live it down otherwise. (But sometimes, to the surprise of just about everyone, he will want to help Chester just for Chester's sake.)
3) Strengths?a) He's clever, in a way. He likes puns.
b) He has a good memory for really useless things. Mostly old movie quotes. (Elliot ended up learning almost all of them just by being around The Doctor and hearing them used all the time.)
c) He isn't much of a liar. The Wilsbach thing turned him briefly into one, but other than that, he's not.
4) Does your OC drink or smoke (etc.)?Nope. I dunno why -- I'm not even sure alcohol would do anything to him, now that I think of it.
5) What's one quirk about your him/her?He calls everyone by nicknames and terms of endearment. Some of these will be clever and some of them will not. He calls Wilsbach "sucker lamb" because of the obvious religious imagery, and as a reference to the fact that Wilsbach is always around Alrik. A sucker lamb frequently refers to a lamb that hasn't been weaned but should have; it's too old for it. Also, it sounds cool. (When speaking Virus he calls him "Sheep" because it's the closest thing he can find in the Virus language for it. Although, to be fair, what he's really calling Wilsbach is a flavor of an emotion in Virus that can be loosely translated to the flavor, for Humans, of some kind of mutton.) He calls Elliot "Ellie" because it sounds cute. :T
6) Does your character have any phobias? He's afraid of when The Hospital dies; he's afraid of loving someone other than her. He's afraid of her in some ways -- while she's dying, she gets scary.
7) What could you do to get him/her into a blind rage?Call The Hospital "a pile of bricks" or something similiar -- "just a building." Call him "Demon" if you aren't Wilsbach. These don't really send him into a blind rage, but they will make him angry with you.
8) Does your OC like chickens?"ELLIE, THE CHICKEN'S TALKING TO YOOOUUUU."
The Final Question
What would you consider your relationship with your character to be like? The Doctor is important to me. He feels more alive and more separate from me than any of my other characters, even though he started off as a sort of persona. Somehow, he just...evolved past that, and now the only thing that shows he used to be me is that we both have the same little spot on our respective stomachs.
He's important to me because he's a Virus, and I've had that species floating around in my head for six or seven years now. But I don't have many of them.
His relationship with Wilsbach is partially me letting off my own steam about that character, and I need that, but he loves Wilsbach on his own, too. I didn't make him do that; it just happened that way. Unfortunately, I broke him a little with it. Because of it, he'll always have a little spot of melancholy in his system that wasn't there when I first made him up. At the start, he could only smile -- now he has a greater range of facial expressions, but only because something broke in him and made his smile capable of falling. It gave him more depth, but sometimes I wish I could repair him.
His relationship with Elliot makes me happy. I feel like I've created two people who love each other very much. Somehow, they've surprised me by existing at all. I love writing characters who have been together for so long that they don't even remember how long it's been.
I worry about how others see The Doctor. I think he could be very easily mistaken for a really hardxkor kind of stupid character. When I say that he's sadistic, I really don't mean it lightly at all. The only way I can think to explain how terrible he actually is in any real way is to explain that Elliot has had to construct really harmful coping mechanisms in order to deal with living with The Doctor.
The Doctor is not a sadist in the "dripping blood ooh i am so gawthcore" sense. He is a sadist in the sense that if someone in reality did what he's done, no one would question that they should be put to death. The Doctor is not a rapist in the "teehee kawaii bishonen touching" sense. He is a rapist in the sense that he has physically and mentally violated countless people and Patients over billions of years and absolutely should not be forgiven for it.
Because he's charming and silly, those parts are easy to forget, and for Elliot, they are necessary to forget so that he can keep from losing his mind. Living in a building where the only other sentient creature is a monster like that, you'd go nuts having to realize that every waking moment. So Elliot just...makes himself forget.
Anyway, I think I'm just hellbent on proving to other people that The Doctor is seriously terrible, because it's so easy to think he's not.
lol tangent
Anyway, there ya go, that's The Doctor~
